Will my dog ever be alone?

I’m a stay at home Mom and Robbie works from home so in general there is always someone home. There are occasions where we may be away at night for school performances or games but we aren’t generally gone for more then an hour or so. If for some reason we have an occasion that may pull us away from the house for more then a few hours we will always convey this prior to booking if possible.

If your dog suffers from separation anxiety or you believe they will not do well being left alone for short periods of time please let us know ASAP so we can determine if our schedule can accommodate that request.

Where will my dog sleep?

Whether they are crated or prefer the comfort of their own bed all dogs sleep in our living room. In general we do not allow dogs in our bedrooms or on our beds but they are allowed on the couch at any time.

What might exclude my dog from being able to stay at your home?

While there isn’t much that would exclude a dog from being able to stay with us this is our home and we must safe guard the home itself, any other dogs in our care and the kids in the house. Please see the short list below of situations that might not make our place the ideal location for your dog. We are ALWAYS willing to have an open discussion with you about your pets needs so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have specific questions or concerns.

  • ·Dogs who do not get along well with other dogs or children. It is imperative that your pup be able to interact with other dogs and children in a safe and happy manner.

  • Puppies with tendencies to chew furniture, blankets, pillows, outdoor items (sprinkler system, drip lines, bushes etc) or excessive scratching at doors.

  • Dogs with extreme separation anxiety that results in howling/crying, scratching at doors or overall destructive behaviors when left alone for short periods of time.

  • Dogs who bark excessively when inside or outside. We live in a very close proximity to our neighbors and work hard to make sure our visiting pups are as respectful as possible.

How often will my dog have a potty break?

Since we are home almost always the dogs are given the opportunity to go out every hour or so and very quickly learn to go straight to the back door when they need to be let out. We try to let the dogs dictate how much time they spend inside or outside and give them ample opportunities to come and go as they please.

Are you insured?

While we do everything we can to make sure your dog is happy and safe we know that accidents can happen when you get playful pups together. Dogs can be unpredictable and even with the strictest of eyes upon them roughhousing or aggression can occur that may lead to injuries. We encourage all pet owners to have personalized pet insurance for each of their dogs and to provide the vet and emergency vet info at the time of drop off. With that said we do have a general liability insurance with Pet Care Insurance.

How many dogs do you watch at a time and will my dog get along with other dogs?

We have our own playful pup Penny so in addition to her we will only take 1 - 4 more dogs. As a rule we typically only take our maximum of 4 when there are just a day or two of overlap between bookings and we know the dogs well.

If you believe that your dog will do well as the only visitor please inquire about solo rates. Please keep in mind we will need to do a meet and greet to ensure she gets along with our pup Penny who has yet to meet a dog she doesn't like.

While we do our best to vet our dogs by performing meet and greets and having open discussions with clients there is always a risk that dogs may not get along. We heavily monitor their interactions for first several hours but as with any in home or kennel facility there is a risk of injury due to rough playing and/or aggressive behavior from other dogs. We do our best to keep a close eye on the dogs at all times but there will be occasions when dogs are outside alone or where we may need to leave the house for short periods of time. While we are an in home pet sitter we do try to maintain a normal schedule which may include attending kids sporting events, conferences or dinners out. We do have protocols set in place where we're able to keep dogs separated from each other but these occasions are extremely rare and are only put in place should an incident occur.
